I am one of those parents that is not only involved in the lives of my children, I’m also an active participator. If there is one thing I did as a girl growing up, I watched. I was told how to dress, who my friends were to be, which family member I was to speak to and was never allowed to be a self thinker. Therefore I obeyed, then secretly took mental notes. I knew this was not how I wanted the family I would some day create to grow.
This theory or plan if you will, absolutely went off with a hitch – or 500- although I never really hit the rock bottom I was afraid of, I did hover within that area in the closest of ways possible. I am a Scorpio, I approach everything with a passion, don’t judge.
So, back to my point….I can say, almost every day, I am amazed at the strength, courage and set of steel balls both my daughters have. They are so much more than I ever was at their ages, that I ever imagined they could be. The difference in my goals and those of my own mother, never included jealousy or resentment in their life’s success. I was never unimportant, just living with them, allowing myself to preempt any pitfalls to better allow myself to be there for them. Although I often question how I managed to do this is still a mystery to me, it does not go without saying, I am proud – picture puffed chest-
They are who they are because our philosophy is that if men call you hater, a feminazi, or frigid you are considered a bitch this is not at all true it means “You don’t need them to validate your existence” this will usually scare the ones who want to control your journey, run …..don’t walk away from them. The right one will love you for being exactly who you are.
The rest, just don’t matter – the same also, applies to friends.
