As I continue to age, gracefully of course, I learn that some people really aren’t “your people”. I have seen people struggle, some I have watched, others I have helped. It is in those moments I realize just who I am friendly with and who I’m familiar with. There is a difference. I believe we can all be grown ups and be friendly to one another without ever being familiar with that person or persons. It is how we build this invisible shield around ourselves to protect “our house” it is a very comfortable place for me. It has taken me years to teach it to my children. I’ll be damned if one or two haven’t mastered it more than I ever will  -if only they ate their vegetables with as much fervor-

It is a gift though, this philosophy, it’s something we all should be allowing ourselves. It keeps us grounded and prevents us from uncomfortable situations, it also reveals just who really is in our corner. Be true to you and those that complete your circle, you don’t owe a thing to anybody who isn’t within that wheelhouse of comfort.
